In an interview aired on 17th January 2012 on BBC Regional Look East News Sarah Nancollas, Chief Executive of LEPRA Health in Action, explained their hope that Aardman Animations will issue an apology for showing the arm falling off someone with leprosy in their latest animated film due for release this March.

For years, Members of ILEP has been fighting to correct discriminatory and wrong perceptions of leprosy. It is therefore dismayed to see the official trailer for the new animated Aardman production The Pirates! Band of Misfits making a sick joke of someone affected by leprosy losing an arm.

For the first time in its history, the European Region of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) will be holding its meeting in Western rather than Eastern Europe. The Conference will be in London 4th – 6th July 2012. The organisers are calling for abstracts to be submitted by 31st January 2012.
