How you can help
Getting involved

All help is greatly appreciated by ILEP Members.
Three popular ways to help are by:
- being a volunteer;
- making a donation; and
- leaving a legacy.
If you would like to do any of these, please visit the websites of the ILEP Members by clicking on the links below.
Should you wish to work for an ILEP Member, either in their head office, or in the field, please contact that Association directly.
Another way in which you can help is to share your knowledge about leprosy with your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues at work. Particularly if you are living in a country where leprosy is no longer a major health concern, ensure they know that leprosy can be treated easily. Within two weeks of starting treatment there is no risk of passing it to anyone else, so there is no need to isolate someone with leprosy.
If you are a journalist or reporter avoid using discriminatory terminology, which distorts views about leprosy. The World Health Organization recommended banning the word ‘leper’, to refer to people affected by leprosy, over thirty years ago because of the associations and stigma attached to it.
