Fondation Raoul Follereau

FRF has been funding and supporting the leprosy programme in Madagascar for more than twenty years. It supports around 30 private centres. Typical financial support for the National Leprosy Programme, which receives the most financial support from ILEP Members, includes money for vehicles and management kits (containing registers, treatment logs, etc) and for the maintenance of radio stations for the Ministry of Health. They also finance the annual leprosy fortnights around World Leprosy Day. They have also developped reconstructive surgery activities and initiated preventative measures. During times of shortage of anti-leprosy drug supplies, FRF has helped ensure supply and that distribution to hard to reach areas was improved.

LEPRA supports the work of FRF in Madagascar. They have assisted with the implementation of prevention of disability and physiotherapy work for example. In the future they plan to upgrade surgical units and surgical missions and ensure local surgeons are trained.
