Institut Pasteur de Madagascar
The Institut Pasteur in Antananarivo is an important centre for biomedical research concentrating on medical biology, microbiology and the epidemiology of infectious communicable diseases. It also undertakes training and takes a lead role in public health. Following a break in studies due to the political uncertainties of 2002, the Institut Pasteur de Madagascar has resumed its studies on the establishment of a PCR/hybridization technique that would facilitate research into the resistance of M. leprae to Rifampicin.
