The following ILEP Members are supporting anti-leprosy activities in Tanzania:
- Aide aux Lépreux Emmaüs Suisse (ALES)
- Deutsche Lepra- und Tuberkulosehilfe (DAHW)
- The Leprosy Mission International (TLMI)

Below are descriptions of some of the typical activities of some of these Members.

By 2002 DAHW had been supporting anti-leprosy work in the United Republic of Tanzania for twenty-five years. It currently finances projects in Kigoma, Mara, Mogogoro, Ruvuma, Shinyanga, Singida, Tabora, Coast Region and Zanzibar as well as supporting the NTLP, particularly socio-economic rehabilitation activities. Aide aux Lépreux Emmaüs Suisse provides Swiss milk directly to certain projects.

In the Ruvuma region DAHW provides support to the St Joseph’s Hospital of Peramiho. The majority of the 200 patients are elderly, many quite severely handicapped by leprosy, who need comprehensive medical and social care. On average DAHW covers 50% of the total care costs a year.

This organisation makes a valuable contribution towards the work of the Rufiji Leprosy Trust (see link). For example, DAHW funded the specialist training of a doctor, who is now able, at Utete, to perform septic surgery on those patients in Rufifi who require it, thus saving them a journey to Dar es Salaam.

TLMI assist with the work of Hombolo, a rural hospital in Dodomo. They co-ordinate with health outreach workers in the villages, help buy vehicles, train volunteers and more recently have been helping people affected by leprosy start to earn some money through the establishment of socio-economic programmes.
