On 18th June 2008, the 8th United Nations Human Rights Council unanimously approved a resolution tabled by Japan on the elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy.

Findings from the sentinel sites in Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Myanmar and Vietnam participating in the sentinel surveillance network to monitor drug resistance in leprosy, set up in 2009 by the Global Leprosy Programme, are published in the WHO’s Weekly Epidemiological Record dated 16th July 2010.
