Staff of the Fondation Raoul Follereau and ILEP, and people affected by leprosy and Buruli ulcer, are among many collaborators who will miss Dr Augustin Guédénon following his death in a car accident in Abomey, Benin, on 12th January. He was buried on 4th February 2010.

Le Niger a atteint en 2002 le seuil d’élimination de la lèpre, fixé par l’OMS à moins d’un cas pour 10 000 habitants et a consolidé depuis les résultats épidémiologiques de la lèpre aux différents niveaux.

Defaulter tracing used to consume a lot of time and resources (vehicles, motor bikes, spare parts, fuel, etc) and only 40% of defaulters were reached.

Dr Jacques Kongawi, American Leprosy Missions’ Country Representative for the Democratic Republic of Congo, was presented with the Damien Dutton Award 2009 at a reception on 5th November.
