Le Mali a atteint en 2001 le seuil d’élimination de la lèpre, fixé par l’OMS à moins d’un cas pour 10 000 habitants. Mises à part quelques disparités et des poches de lèpre dans certaines régions plus reculées, les progrès obtenus permettent de rendre hommage à tous ceux qui se sont investis dans cette lutte, et d’être optimiste quant à la consolidation des acquis.

Adopted in Rome in May 2009, “A Quest for Justice” resolution stresses the fact that leprosy is curable, that using the word “leper” today is inappropriate and that people who have had leprosy are equal partners.
