A field visit to Nimba County has revealed that much is to be done to support people affected by leprosy in this country and DAHW, the ILEP Co-ordinator for anti-leprosy activities in Liberia, is appealing to ILEP Members and other organisations to assist.

The Leprosy Mission International selected two outstanding individuals, who have surmounted considerable challenges to lead lives of inspiration to so many others, to receive the 2009 Wellesley Bailey Award.

The International Association for Integration, Dignity and Economic Advancement, IDEA, has published its report of activities for 2008. As the only leprosy focussed non-governmental organisation with Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, coverage is given to the ways in which it is broadening the base to discuss leprosy as a human rights issue.
