Today, 2nd September 2011, data on leprosy cases collected from 130 countries or territories for the year 2010 was published by the World Health Organization in its Weekly Epidemiological Record.
According to the records submitted to the WHO Global Leprosy Programme a total of 228,474 new cases of leprosy were detected in 2010.
