Stigma Research Workshop, Amsterdam, October 2010
Posted on 26 October 2010 by
The Stigma Research Workshop, held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 11th – 14th October 2010, brought together scientists and professionals from different public health fields to share knowledge, experiences and research findings regarding stigma and public health.
It is believed that a lot can be gained in the fight against stigma and discrimination from combining the knowledge and experience gained in different stigma-affected conditions such as HIV/AIDS, leprosy, disability, tuberculosis and mental health. The workshop was hosted by the Netherlands Leprosy Relief and was organised in collaboration with the American Leprosy Missions.
The specific objectives of the workshop were to produce scientific papers and field guidelines on four main following themes;
1. Research priorities regarding stigma
2. Measurement of stigma
3. Interventions against stigma
4. Counselling and stigma
A report of this workshop will be available on this website soon.
