1st Asia-Pacific Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Congress, 9th – 11th December 2008, Bangkok

ILEP is supporting the First Asia-Pacific CBR Congress which will be held 9th – 11th December 2008 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
It is being sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Royal Thai Government.
Community-based inclusive development will be the major theme. Among the many other objectives of this Congress, which is to give further impetus to the development of CBR activities, are:
- bringing stakeholders together to share resources;
- developing an alliance and resource base for the Asia-Pacific region among the United Nations Government Organisations, non-government organisations, disabled peoples’ organisations and others; and
- promoting CBR as a strategy for reducing poverty and enhancing the quality of life of persons with disabilities and their families.
As many persons as possible with disabilities and impairments, and their families, are being encouraged to participate and share their experiences.
