In an editorial published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) April 2008, entitled Chemoprophylaxsis in the treatment of leprosy, ITC Chair, Professor W. Cairns S Smith asserts that 'national policies need to be reviewed in the light of new evidence supporting a single dose of rifampicin.'
The associated article discusses the results of the COLEP study in Bangladesh:

By F Johannes Moet, David Pahan, Linda Oskam and Jan H Richardus for the COLEP study group.
