In an editorial published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) April 2008, entitled Chemoprophylaxsis in the treatment of leprosy, ITC Chair, Professor W. Cairns S Smith asserts that 'national policies need to be reviewed in the light of new evidence supporting a single dose of rifampicin.'
