Damien Dutton Award 2009 Goes to Dr Jacques Kongawi

Dr Jacques Kongawi, American Leprosy Missions’ Country Representative for the Democratic Republic of Congo, was presented with the Damien Dutton Award 2009 at a reception on 5th November.
“Dr Kongawi works tirelessly, often in life-threatening situations, to treat people suffering from leprosy in his home country of the Democratic Republic of Congo” according to the press release issued by American Leprosy Missions: http://leprosy.org/getinterested/newsandmedia/news.php
Damien Dutton Award
This Award was created by the Damien-Dutton Society for Leprosy Aid Inc., which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the ridding the world of leprosy. It is named after both Saint Damien, a Belgian priest, who was canonised on 11th October 2009 and after Joseph Dutton, a US civilian war veteran, who helped Father Damien whilst he had leprosy.
