Developments with Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Posted on 4 March 2010 by ILEP

A resolution on mainstreaming disability in the development agenda was negotiated by governments during the 48th Session of the Commission for Social Development last month. This resolution is important because it is the first of its kind to address the inclusion of disability in new mechanisms.

This and other news and events related to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, including the new total of 80 ratifications, which will bring the number on the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities from 12 to 18 in 2011, is covered in the February issue of enable.

Enable is published monthly by the United Nations Secretariat for this Convention. Usually there are contributions from UN offices, agencies, funds, programmes and civil society.
