IncludeEverybody Website Launched
Posted on 23 September 2008 by
This new website calls on individuals and concerned organisations to spread the importance of including everybody, including people affected by disability, in development plans.
It was launched on 23rd September 2008 to coincide with the Global Campaign Against Poverty’s International Poverty Hearing. Put together by the International Disability and Development Consortium United Nations Task Group colleagues with the support of the Millennium Campaign, this website highlights the fact that although one in five of the world’s poorest people are disabled they are often forgotten. They were excluded from consideration, for example, when world leaders discussed and planned the Millennium Development Goals in 2000. If the Millennium Development Goals are to achieve the targets set, plans for tackling poverty should include measures for people affected by disabilities and impairments.
