Journal for Neglected Tropical Diseases
Posted on 9 February 2007 by
The Public Library of Science, PLoS, has recently announced the creation of Neglected Tropical Diseases. This is an access journal. It is the first to be devoted to the world's most neglected diseases, including leprosy. Anyone with access to a computer and the Internet will be able to freely read, distribute and translate its contents.
It will focus on the pathology, epidemiology, prevention, treatment and control and public policy relevant to neglected tropical diseases.
The launch of this journal is a sign that interest in neglected diseases is on the rise, as is the pace of scientific progress says one of the directors of the Gates Foundation Infectious Diseases Program. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given a $1.1 million grant to the journal.
Submissions may be made to the journal from 2007.
