The International Day of Dignity and Respect was founded by IDEA in 1999, to recognize the achievements of people affected by leprosy. On this day, people come together to share their own challenges and their victories to overcome the stigma and discrimination associated with leprosy. Ultimately, this special day promotes an understanding and acceptance of the uniqueness of each individual, and the dignity inherent in each of us. This will provide a path towards universal human rights and peace that is the fruit of justice.
The International Association for Integration, Dignity, and Economic Advancement, IDEA, is an international advocacy organization that promotes dignity, opportunity, and justice for all. For more information see our website: www.idealeprosydignity.org
