WHO Director General Calls for Fairness in International Health Policies

Dr Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization, has said it is time to build health policies based on fairness.
“Fairness, I believe, is at the heart of our ambitions for global health,” Chan told world’s ambassadors, who had been calling for a redesign of international systems, on 15th June at the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York. Extremes of wealth and poverty are often, as Chan noted, “a precursor for social breakdown.” "A focus on health as a worthy pursuit for its own sake is the surest route to the moral dimension, the surest route to a value system that puts the welfare of humanity at its heart."
