Working to Overcome the Impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases

The 25th March 2011 issue of the World Health Organization’s Weekly Epidemiological Record is on the topic of Neglected Tropical Diseases, of which leprosy is one of seventeen.
This document summarises the common characteristics of these diseases, which exacerbate poverty and impede attainment of the health-related Millennium Development Goals, actions which can be taken to address the suffering they cause and also outlines challenges for the future.
