2009 is a defining year for Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) as the 1st Asia-Pacific CBR Congress was held in February in Bangkok, and the ILO/UNESCO/WHO CBR guidelines will be launched in December.

During 2008/09 LEPRA Health in Action has successfully scaled up its operations in the central state of Madhya Pradesh in India. From supporting two projects in the state, LEPRA now supports six projects having the potential to reach and improve the health of around 20 million people.

Le Mali a atteint en 2001 le seuil d’élimination de la lèpre, fixé par l’OMS à moins d’un cas pour 10 000 habitants. Mises à part quelques disparités et des poches de lèpre dans certaines régions plus reculées, les progrès obtenus permettent de rendre hommage à tous ceux qui se sont investis dans cette lutte, et d’être optimiste quant à la consolidation des acquis.

A field visit to Nimba County has revealed that much is to be done to support people affected by leprosy in this country and DAHW, the ILEP Co-ordinator for anti-leprosy activities in Liberia, is appealing to ILEP Members and other organisations to assist.
