The International Association for Integration, Dignity and Economic Advancement, IDEA, has published its report of activities for 2008. As the only leprosy focussed non-governmental organisation with Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, coverage is given to the ways in which it is broadening the base to discuss leprosy as a human rights issue.

The World Health Organization’s Global Leprosy Programme now has a section on the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office’s website, providing links to key documents, including technical reports and the global anti-leprosy strategy.

Commenting on the granting of the 2009 Prince of Asturias Award to the WHO, Director-General, Dr Margaret Chan said: “I am deeply honoured that the World Health Organization has received the Prince of Asturias Award for International Co-operation for its efforts to fight against international health threats and for its leadership in co-ordinating health in a rapidly changing world”.
