Technical advice
ILEP aims to provide technical advice and guidance to its Members but also to others working in the field of leprosy. Primarily this is generated through the work of ILEP’s Technical Commission. The Commission provides advice on broad issues of policy, strategy and interpretation of trends, at the request of Members but also proactively.
Specific areas of advice and guidance include:
- Giving technical advice on clinical, technical and operational aspects of leprosy work. Some of this advice is in the form of periodic reviews, commissioned teaching and learning materials, bulletins and advisory papers.
- Providing direct advice to ILEP Members and field programmes;
- Making available, through the Secretariat, such publications and other resources essential to maintaining appropriate services for people affected by leprosy.
ILEP also facilitates links with other resources that can provide technical advice and guidance such as the reports of the WHO Technical Advisory Group on leprosy and the Leprosy Mailing List where subscribers can share technical and operational questions with other experts.
